About Rye Pack 2

Rye Pack 2 has been serving the boys and community of Rye, New York for over 80 years.  We are a large and active Pack comprised of boys from all areas schools, and we always welcome new members at any time; boys simply need to be between first and fifth grades, or ages 7-10. (Boys who are older than 10, or who have completed the fifth grade, can join the Boy Scouts and are encouraged to contact our affiliate Rye Troop 2.)

We actively encourage participation by parents or guardians in all our activities (and in many cases, siblings), while recognizing that everyone has different skill sets, family situations and availability.  This is supplemented by a dedicated group of parents who volunteer as formal leaders, after undergoing appropriate training and background checks.

We have Pack Meetings once a month, usually (but not always!) on a Wednesday night at Rye Presbyterian Church.  These often have a fun and educational activity run by a special guest.  Recent guests have included Animal Embassy, the ScienceTellers, the Rye Fire Department, Police Department and EMS, Rye High School's track and field coach and team, and representatives of our affiliated Boy Scout Troop, Rye Troop 2

Your boys will also have smaller Den Meetings with a group of approximately 4-10 boys who are their own age/grade, which depending on the Den's preferences could be as often as weekly or as infrequently as monthly.  These meetings also include fun and educational activities, through which your son will have the pride of earning various awards and advancing through the ranks of scouting.

We also offer a wide range of special, family-friendly activities on evenings and weekends throughout the year.  We try target activities which are educational, character-building, generally unavailable through other organizations, and most of all -- FUN!  Here is an example of typical activities throughout the school year:

The Pack does not have formal meetings or activities during the summer months, but a number of nearby day camps, sleep-away camps, and family camps are available for any Cub Scouts who are interested.

Rye Presbyterian Church is our chartering organization and graciously provides us with the use of their facilities, however Rye Pack 2 (and scouting more broadly) warmly welcomes boys of all faiths.

We strive to keep the cost of scouting low, so that it's available to any intersted boys regardless of their financial circumstances.  Our annual dues are currently $150/year and our special activities typically require only a reasonable fee for those who choose to participate.  Financial assistance is also available -- please email cubmaster@ryepack2.com if the annual dues would be problematic for your family.
